Massage Therapy

Chiropractic adjustments paired with massage is an excellent method for improving overall health and musculoskeletal efficiency. Massage or manual therapy has a number of beneficial effects on the body and the mind. Some of these include removal of toxins that can build up and cause soreness in the muscles of the body (also known as lactic acid), increased circulation or bloodflow, and increased flexibility in the muscles and connective tissue within the body, such as tendons and ligaments.

Massage also can help with muscle spasms, stiffness or trigger points (knots) in the muscles, as well as soft tissue injuries. Massage increases the blood flow to the muscles and reduces the overall recovery time by helping the body in the healing process.  Massage also releases endorphins, which are our "feel good" hormones, and can help the body to relax and reduce stress.  This also reduces blood pressure, heart rate, and feelings of anxiety.

Dr. Laura Lassiter has always believed that the muscles of the body are key players in conditions that cause subluxation in the spine.  If your muscles are tight or imbalanced due to weakness, they will pull the spine out of alignment and cause other issues.  One of the most common conditions involving tight and/or weak muscles is Tension Type Headaches.  This type of headache occurs in the mid morning to late afternoon, causes pain in the shoulders, neck and the back of your head, eventually leading to a headache.  This is due to poor posture during our busy lifestyles, whether it involves sitting at a desk or computer, driving trucks or tractors, or even reading or scrolling on our cellphones or Ipads.  And YES, kids can get them too from to many hours on electronic devices and even reading actual books and studying!

If you, or someone you know suffers from Tension Type Headaches, call and schedule an appointment with Dr. Laura today at 701-890-BACK (2225)!
